Can somebody explain this?

It was when I was going through a book 'Women - A primer for Men' that I encountered these lines. Can some body please explain what it means?

“Women ask men impossible to answer questions because the question we actually asked is not he question we really want answered. You only have to lie if you answer the question we actually asked rather than the one we really want answered. You would not have to lie if you ignored the question we actually asked and answered the question we really wanted answered. This is specially true if the question we actually asked requires the man to give an opinion in his answer which is never permitted. (If a man gives a woman his opinion on any topic he should immediately apologize and humbly beg her forgiveness unless said opinion deals directly with automobiles or power tools.) Be advised that women ask these questions as a test. We are determining your ability to read subtext, deciding whether to continue the relationship or not, and seeing how clever you really are as shown by the quality of your answer. You will remember that women are naturally more sibylline than men and that we enjoy playing that delightful game "Confuse-A-Male". This has been a test. This has only been a test. If this had been an actual emergency requiring an opinion we would have
asked a woman.”

He has also written 'Men - A primer for Women' but has not written anything of this sort for men. I wonder why and so do all the existing women on the earth. May be because he is a man. :)

  1. Kiran, If you take each sentence separately I think you will come to understand the folly of this writing or the genius of his statements. It seems he is implying that women ask men questions that they really don't want the answers to, but are just trying to see how "smart" or "wise" or how his mind thinks. It is truly a game some women might play, but I don't know many who do. Perhaps investigating certain cultures would provide additional information. You are a smart women. Were you asking just to get comments or are you really wanting to know. This is the test, isn't it? Thanks for your thoughts and sharing.

  3. Wow... first for such a nice blog... and if the designning is also done by you (books sideways) kudas for u...
Remember the What is said about asking advice...we ask advices to seek jus approval for what we have decided to do...(hidden intention)
simillary here all the writter is implying... women dont ask questions to man which they want to directly but ask round about questions (which they feel are related with their main concerns...and u know what in a way.. they actually are...)
here is the catch.... answer of these question does not fully and only correspond to the answer of main question... but the main question becomes a special case of it.
    like..
if A wants to know if B knows about history...
instead of asking "what do you about history" he asks "do you know akbar's father". If B tells correctly.... B's knows about Akbar sure.. about rest of history...you cant be sure... But he sure knows something!!! Benefit of Doubt (BOD).
(may be A only knows that much about history)

"AUTHOR" says "woman do it..for test purpose" but i think ... they do it(if they do) because..
    1. even if one cant find the answer of main question A correctly... yet the answer of question B gives new insights..in to other person mind. one can deduce something out of it related with other issues we have in mind...also it is the backup data to work upon latter... and not a road block.

    2. The leading questions dont give mind much to ponder upon, but others have infinete answeres and based on answers infinite scenarios... that is something... FOOD FOR THOUGHT

solving two purpose... testing the intelligence and thought process, and also having the scope of giving BOD to others if desired so by woman !!!

    on second thought...
isnt this is the way of doing good surveys/enquires... not asking direct questions.... but asking questions around/about it...
    For example
what do you think about the logo of your shampoo bottle
or for that matter, tech spec. of your laptop..

the wrong answer doesnt mean you dont like your shampoo or laptop (so no need to lie isnt) but if you do remember it, wow that is somehthing,
    both way... communication is open.

so you see its not about the question asked.... but about the ANSWERS ....one seeks
